Check out a very productive way to get your baits down where you want them.

I like tadpoles, don't have to let out 200 ft of line! And having line counter reels is no longer a "have to have".

I use them some, I mainly use the #1. As Doug alluded to you can use a shallow running bait and still get it down to the depths you want to fish beyond what it would normally dive to. And a good reason for that and I’m sure Doug will get into this more in-depth later is deep divers and the same body with a short Bill will have a different wobble. And some times that’s what it takes to turn the fish on. They also work good pulling jigs. Mulch easier to use their dive chart and set your depth without putting out so much line. I have also run them behind planer boards.

We killed crappie on Tadpoles and Pico Squarebills both behind Off Shore planer boards and without boards on Grenada during Crankfest. Sometimes you just have to show them a bait they haven't seen at a depth that bait normal wouldn't run. We also caught some on 1/4oz horsehead jigs and 4 inch curly tails behind Tadpoles.
