Okuma Linecounter reels

Can you lightly cart to get each crankbait 20-30 ft out or should you just let crankbaits float out until getting to distance?

I just drop them in the water & let them dive to take them to whatever distance back I want them to be. Though, I'm usually running them with weights a few feet ahead of them, so the weights pull out line as much as the diving crank does. And yes, I have cast them out to get my distance ... but, that was when I was using baitcasters, prior to getting line counter reels.

I cast my Shakespeare ATS reels all the time.

I cast mine out- Saves a lot of time, but they can get tangled up in the line that way, so just before they hit the water, I stop them, so they will hit stretched out.

I just let them out because I can't cast without fuzzing the reel

The bearings and build quality from the factory has suffered over the last several years but you should still be able to cast them within reason. With a 16’ PST rod, 120+ feet is common with 10-12lb mono. Step that distance down as the rod length gets shorter.
