OK...... You guys that said South Bend are correct.
Around 1895 F.G. Worden invented several wooden lures and started the Worden Bucktail Manufacturing Company in South Bend , Indiana. In 1909 three of his original employees bought the business from him and changed the name to The South Bend Bait Company. Their main line of lures was the Oreno Series...Bass Oreno, Pike Oreno, etc, etc. They became engaged in the manufacture of bamboo fly rods after buying out Cross Rod Company of Massachusetts in 1926. They continued to acquire and buy patents on tackle for the next 30 years. They manufactured all types of reels, bait casting, spinning, and fly. In 1958 South Bend was sold but still operates today as South Bend Sporting Goods Company.
