Default Are your Way Points missing - gone

I fish a Reservoir built just over 50 years ago . Two small Rivers feed into a lake about 15 miles long -- with old river channel from one end to the other -- No Topo maps were ever made, Boat lanes are marked good but lots of Pilings used are ow gone.. Some Boat lanes were routed across sand Bars or short cuts that were not in the old channel... Most Channel water is 25 to 45 feet deep. the channel is where everybody fishes for Crappie in the Winter. I had rough ideas where several old Blowdown were that rested on bottom that Ate dozens of my jigs. When I got a new Helix, I braved the heat to actually create new Way Points where they were located without the 20 foot thick layer of Shad during the Winter.... those flooded Trees are Gone. The Flood this year was 10 ft above Pool and the Flood 3 years ago was 12 ft over Pool. The flood 3 yrs ago destroyed Docks, Boathouses , Flooded homes and closed Roads for Miles. Red Cross helped folks recover ---- Old Blow Down that had been sticking out in the Lake that I fished --- Washed away --Gone. I just went on Google Earth that I use from time to time looking for places to fish and those old trees that stuck out of the water are gone too... I think the Current rolled the Blow downs breaking off the Limbs scattering debris across the floor of the lake .. With all the Flooding from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico your Favorite top Marked on the Sonar in your Ride Might need some serious up-dating.....

Very familiar with "here today, gone tomorrow" cover, as many of our lakes are prone to flooding & heavy drawdown currents when the lakes are drawn back down to Pool. Seems like, also, that our KDFWR knows that the thermocline normally sets up around the 15ft depths and place their artificial and natural cover items no deeper than 15fow.
I have the GPS coords to hundreds of those KDFWR cover items and even some for a lake in Tenn. .... and I've already experienced some of them no longer existing or anywhere near the coords assigned to them. I've also experienced many laydowns & timber piles having disappeared after serious flooding. These are (in KY) mostly flood control lakes & not power generation lakes.

So yeah .... you've got to keep up with the changes or your "honey hole waypoints" are gonna be wasted info & a waste of time.

I use to fish the Channel edge for Catfish where there was lots of scattered limbs on the bottom but there were not any Log piles that I have found -- you would think that somewhere there is a jam... Think about that sharp bend below A bridge.. All the Current blasts out of the bend and over what would have been the Bank of the old River Bed. The Flat behind the bend would be Devastated, Taking any Silt build up off leaving sand and hard bottom. It could be possible , Where the Current goes back into the channel downstream, a Build up where it enters, rolling those limbs and logs over the edge into deep water.
