Smile What knot do you use? Surgeons Loop vs. Perfection Loop vs. Lefty Kreh Loop

I notice a lot of the guys here use a Surgeons Loop for their loop knots.

I have always preferred a Lefty Kreh loop knot since the tag points at the fly/lure rather than fwd like a Surgeons or Rapala Loop, it catches less weeds / grass. When I am fishing clean water I use a perfection loop (not quite as strong) since it is a straighter pull and the fly tracks better through the water, on the perfection loop the tag points out the side so it's not quite as great in grass/weeds as the Lefty.

Any opinions from you guys on your preferred loop knots and why for pulling jigs for Crappie?

    ... because it's easy.

I prefer the Kreh loop, though (for casting. I don't troll, except on internet bulletin boards.)

Lefty and the knot that bears his name are almost unknown outside of the fly fishing world.

I'm not sure I know what a loop knot is. I'm thinking the loop some tie on a lure of some king with? I guess it let's the lure move better? I don't use one of those. Eith jigs and spinner's I tie right to the eyelet. For plug's I use a snap swivel. For hooks I think it's called the snell knot. Wraps around the hook shank. Seem's like one of the thing's talked about with fishing line is line abrasion. Well seem's to me if the lure is swinging around on the line, it just may abrade the line it's hanging on quicker. Even tying on a hook, I use that snell? knot. Wrap the line aroung the hook shank a number of time's and just seem's better to me.

You're right about that, and it's a shame too, a lot of his contributions/ideas have a lot of value even outside of fly fishing. I threw deceivers below small sinkers to deep Redfish on pilings once when I couldn't get them down with a sink tip and had a blast (don't tell anyone). I have mostly been a saltwater spin and fly guy, and Lefty was one of my all time heroes (still is).

Recently learned a new loop knot called the "canoe man knot". It is easy for old eyes to tie. Kreh's knot is a bit hard for me to see to tie with the light lines.

I tried a couple of loop knots from the internet , but the fastest and simplest is the Surgeon's Loop, I cut the tag as close as possible to avoid grass.

It's used to make sure your jig always hangs horizontal in the water,so that it looks like a minnow swimming straight.
