No bend, seen too many with a permanent bend. Composition doesn’t matter to my way of thinking. After seeing so many it’s just the way I take care of things. I also loosen the drag so that the drag discs don’t become compressed and not work as they should. Been using the same cheap reels for 20 years plus and the drag still works good. A little on the front end means no repairs or replace on the back end.

I have removed the bend in several bass rods by applying a small amount of heat very carefully to the area of the bend and slowly flexing the rod back straight. Was able to get the bend out and did not seem to affect the action.. I used a small propane torch and was very careful to apply only minimal heat so as not to damage rod finish. A industrial type heat gun may work also and not have the risk of open flame. Key is to store them straight when not in use. I have only tried this on fiberglass or F/g composite rods!!!

Rods stored horizontal with no bend or tension on the tips.

I keep them straight when transporting or stored, just makes sense.

Not to be argumentative (or cheap), but can you not use a "bent" pole? I use old poles all of the time, probably with slight bends in them.
-
I could use a bent pole but I want a straight one. I could drink a warm beer but I want an ice cold beer.

That's a big no from me to. Like skeetbum said it doesn't matter what its made of, they will bend. A thin wall blank will do it faster then a thinker wall. I built a 9ft graphite jig pole and left it in my boat in the driveway in over 100degree heat for two days with a slight bend and it set. Really pissed me off since I just built the thing and didn't even get to catch a fish with like before that happen lol

Wait a minute, not a fair comparison. Warm beer is not tolerable. I mean, I can skimp by on a lot of things. A bent pole is one of them. But beer? Absolutely not! Must be cold beer! rotfl
