Default Eagle Claw vs Mustad hooks - jig hooks of one size NOT

I ordered some 3/32 oz jigs with #2 and #4 hooks on Ebay. I compared them to other jigs for hook size and noticed that the Mustad hooks were a bit longer than those made with Eagle Claw hooks. I'll probably keep them seeing as how anymore I seem to be a collector of many jigs with many hook sizes - especially 1/16. Here's the comparison:

Seems to me they are the same size if you account for how they are attached to the jig.

The jig maker admitted after comparing the hooks before molding that the hooks of the two companies are different and offered a refund. I said I would keep them in separate bags labeled #1 and #3 as they both are a bit larger than Eagle Claw sizes 2 and 4 and that there's always uses for odd size hooks.

I don't see a good reason not to use them myself . I just put a shorter plastic on one and a longer plastic on the other .

Exactly ! I'll always find uses for jig heads especially in the weight range I normally use. Since I make my own plastics - size matters ! LOL

The Mustad is also a heavier wire hook.

I poured a large quantity of jigs this past spring and used Eagle Claw. Started to have problems with them when I was walleye fishing. Would get a bite and set the hook and about half way back to the boat the hook would break right at the barb. It seems that the barb was cut to deep. Now I check each one before I use it. It may be that the metal was heated to high and caused fatigue to the metal.

Their bait hooks seem to dull pretty easy anymore.
