I like that stuff spartan. I also like the way you think. I’ve been able to build some neat stuff over the years with job site refuse and overage.

Thanks, skeetbum. I'm not a wealthy man and many times have to make do with what I have. Good thing I'm also a pack rat.

My next door neighbor and friend said that he seldom had to go to the hardware store, he just went to my garage. I too am a pack rat.

An ex presidential candidate considers me a deplorable redneck - I agreed and went fishing.

The wife and I named our 5th wheel the Cabin. When people ask where were going, or where did you go on vacation? We went to the Cabin at the lake, or to the cabin in northern Wisconsin, or to the cabin in Florida, or our cabin at the... You get the idea. We'll we needed a sign, and a place to hang it. Plus I wanted a flag pole holder on the 5th wheel. So I rolled all of that up into one modification.

Yep, our sign has a Crappie on it.
As for the flags, USA (center mast), Marine Corps (left), and It's 5 O'clock Somewhere (right side).
I also added a 12v LED floodlight for night time hours.

We all deal with it different ways, and this was mine. 18’ boat, 16’ 2X4 and a few pieces of pvc helped me to create a ridge that with a few bungee cords, has mine shedding water like a ducks back. My cover was trimmed for a previous boat at 16’ and it is ready to be replaced, but I’ve been using it for near 15 years. It was a lumber tarp off of a flatbed truck, found roadside in NJ. The pvc uprights fit over the seat posts front and rear. The T’s were cut on a miter saw to originally accommodate a piece of chain link fence top rail with a 1 1/2” pvc cap on either end. When I moved and the boat got bigger I went to the 16’ 2X4 to form the ridge. The t’s needed a couple of screws to keep the two by standing upright. The t’s stay attached to the two by and the uprights aren’t glued so they slip apart. If I had a little bit bigger tarp, and a little longer ridge pole, my boat would be bone dry through the worst of storms. If anyone has a supplier for a replacement tarp, shoot me a pm so I can get after it. Hope this helps someone protect their investment.

So after having the tracker out in the weather getting rained on/in, I thought I'd try Skeetbum's tepee technique, but I was too lazy to go buy and cut the pvc t-joints. So all I did was screw a 1x2 to the side of the 2x4 and stick it into the 2" PVC pipe (which fits nice over the seat posts. I love this technique. I actually do have a boat cover but here in Florida you can't use them for long periods of time without getting the inside of the boat moldy. The Skeetbum tepee works great. Keeps rain and sun off the boat, and allows for good airflow. Thanks Timbo.
