Skeetbum check out ebay for used billboard tarps. There are only black ones now but they do come in white also, just keep checking. I bought one to cover my travel trailer with, it's very tough and durable.

I love my "Charbrella" Idea. Great for bank fishing, parades, cooking ribs outside, or just when you need some shade or shelter from light rain while catching a slab crappie.

I have a SUV and like to keep my fishing rods with me and to protect them from getting broke I went to Lowes and bought a 24" sono tube for concrete that is 4' long. I then took the smaller cardboard tubes my rods came in and cut them down to 4' and slid them inside the sono tube so now I have individual rod slots for about 10 rods in the back of my car and I don't have to worry about stuff falling on them and breaking the rods.

Skeetbum, do you have any pictures of your cover you can post? And Bama, I love your idea. I drive a Tahoe and the inside looks like a rolling tackle shop. Good way to protect your rods.
Thank you for the idea on the billboard tarps PawPaw. And Skeetbum on the 2x6. I used some 3/4" pvc to make a backbone and ribs out to the side of my V-bottom, but it didn't fair to well. I will fix that shortly. I looked on e-bay and found a 20'x40' tarp for 35.00. It's on the way. Will cut it down with enough to make a glued triple folded edges and put some eyes for bungy straps...

The best option IMHO is the top rail for chain link fence. Plastic doesn’t sustain static weight, and to my way of thinking, putting a stiffener inside makes it heavy. Top rail is an inch and a half and a pvc cap goes over it nicely and keeps the rough edges covered. The pvc T’s were originally used as cradles for the rail. I sanded any rough edges and rounded corners on the T’s to keep them from rubbing holes. I’ve had blue tarps and store bought covers, none have kept it dry like this has. Worth every nickel, I’ll replace it with a smile after 15 years use.

How the unit sits in the boat.
The transducer mounted in a block of packing foam.
The Gel Cell battery inside. Also provides weight to keep the unit upright.
