    Default Trouble getting a bite

I just retired and bought a boat again, used to bass fish and now trying to crappie fish.
Installed live scope about a month ago and have learned to find brush piles with fish on them in 20 to 30 feet of water.
Now my problem, I can seem o get bit on jigs, tried different colors and shapes, do I need to work the jig more hold it still or just go to live bait?

Tip the jig with a minnow or nibbles! If they won't bite on that use a straight minnow rig.

What body shape is the plastics on your jig (if you use plastics) ??

You might downsize your jig (length of plastics & weight of jighead).
    You might try Slabsauce.

You might also be able to determine the mood of the fish you find, by how they react to the jigs & presentations you use (seeing as how you can watch them react on your screen). If they come to the jig and then back away ... change the size, and/or color, and/or add a scent, and then watch their reaction. If there's no change, leave them.

Sometimes they just "ain't havin it", and you may need to look for another school of fish (& hope they're in a different mood). But, at least with the Livescope you can quickly make that determination & not spend hours at one spot "trying to make them bite".

You have joined the club. It is extremely frustrating to see what appears to be several hundred crappie suspended and moving around a brush pile, then have every one of them refuse every thing you offer them. I've seen that a lot this past week.

Yesterday I've became desperate enough to fish minnows! With the same result.

I don't have an answer, except to keep trying.

from what I have seen on livescope if they are moving around a little bit its likely you will get a bite if its right above them a foot or so and lately not moving the jig much .
if the herd is sitting still like ornaments on a tree it seems more often than not it is going to be tough to get bit .
beyond that welcome to summer finicky crappie ketchn my friend .

Thanks for the advice everybody, I have been using mostly 1 1/2" to 2 " plastic jigs on different size jig heads, tried some tubes in the same size, will try smaller and see what happens,
    and your right it is
    frustrating
to watch them swim up to a jig and then turn and swim away, I have caught a few smaller ones, but can see bigger ones swimming around, but it still beats working!!
