Nice catch. What are the solar bees for?
If you are on Lake Purdy in Alabama remember the water is deep around the solar bees. In fact it is DEEP and then DEEPER! Last year my buddy and I were fishing 25 feet down over 45 feet of water. He said it was deeper on the other side of the Solar Bees. We would long line troll minnows and soft plastic stingers around each solar panel then go to the next one and long line troll. I believe our troll pattern that day was just six of the bees. YOU HAVE TO WEAR YOUR LIFE JACKETS IN THAT AREA. Too far to swim to shore and too much water to try and drink. We were also in one of those rent a john boats with just a trolling motor.
Fishing was great with a lot of 15 inch Crappies being caught. Be careful out there Jiggah.

I imaging they help capture solar energy for the surrounding area. My fishing buddy says they are there as fish magnets and we should visit them often. LOL

Well done Brother Mike. You offer some great water safety tips that others would do well to follow.
We had a bunch of those Solar Bees on Jordan Lake here in Central NC. They claimed that they helped to prevent water stratification ("dead water") by circulating deep water to the top, which supposedly adds oxygenation and helps prevent summer fish kills. The ones here at Jordan Lake were put in place in response to a shad and striped bass kill that we had ten or so years ago, but I believe they have all been taken out over the last couple of years. If I recall correctly, striped bass and shad need deeper/cooler water to survive and they were prevented from accessing deeper/cooler water by poor oxygen levels. Thanks for sharing your day with the rest of us.

Yes Sir!! That's the spot! I will be there bright and early!! I'll let ya know! Last time I was there we jigged vertical about 15 ft but nothing would bite. Guess I'll put a double minnow rig on this time and drop on down!
Have a blessed day, Ship!
