Thank you for posting this thread. As a veteran myself, as was my father and was his father before him: I will never forget those who have given their lives to help make and keep our country free.
This has nothing to do with fishing but I hope that you will take a read. As a military veteran and I know there are others on here and this is a day that is hard for many of us. People get this day and Veterans Day confused so I would like to give a quick reminder of what it is. Veterans day is the day that you tell all veterans, Active and prior thanks for your service. This weekend however is Memorial Day. This is a day started long ago to remember those who died fighting the civil war. After WW1 it was changed to remember all lost protecting our country. I have lost guys as have many of you. This weekend, especially Monday I ask that you take a minute to remember what this day is about. The official order from the Government is that at 3PM everyone stops what they are doing and gives a moment of silence. For many this is simply a 3 day weekend that they can go to the lake, cook out and drink beer but it is the sacrifices of those no longer here that allows you to do that. Please take a minute even if not at 3pm and give a thank you to those that have given the ultimate sacrifice so that we may shoot guns and catch crappie as free individuals. Thank you!

Not being a veteran, I always have a hard time walking the line between respect and lip service. God Bless all of our veterans , those still with us and those that have already gone home.

The local Scouts do the flags ... and I thank them for it.
I do the Wreaths in Dec. .... and sponsored 10 wreaths, myself, this year. Wreaths Across America is doubling all wreaths sponsored during the month of May, so the 10 wreaths I paid for will result in 20 wreaths available for our local National Cemetery at Camp Nelson. And I plan on being there to help the local Rolling Thunder guys place them on the Veteran's graves.
