    Default Bow roller replacement

Well no suprise here... I’m stumped again lol. My bow roller by the winch on my trailer has officially bit the dust. I bought a new one, but am having no luck in finding a way to get the old one off. I thought it would simply be a bolt but it’s not. That would be too easy. Anyone ever changed one of these or know how to get it off? It appears to be a solid piece of metal through the middle, but the it’s not long enough to grind off, I don’t have room in the middle, and trying to pound it out with a hammer and punch has been unsuccessful. Checked YouTube and only found one video on it that wasn’t much help... hopefully somebody with experience on it has the easy answer. Thanks everyone! Tight lines!

4 way tire tool works pretty good, may need a hammer too. Those are standard fare on trailer rollers. Can't reuse them, so need new ones. BPS has them, boat shop should too. Careful of your fingers(don't ask why).

I took 2 flathead screwdrivers to mine positioned 180 degrees to each other and popped them off. Just a suggestion if you havent thought of it, change it before you load your boat onto the trailer at your next outing.

    Default Bow roller replacement

Pry one of the metal caps off with a flat head screwdriver. Then you should be able to drive it out the rest of the way. Many newer bow rollers ship with a new bolt, washers and nylock nut. Just replaced mine last month.

After several tries with screwdrivers and pry bars, I was still unable to remove the cap. What I ended up doing was drilling a hole through the center of the cap, then using a punch and sledge to pop the pin out the other side. Replaced it with a long, smooth shank bolt. Also, the roller I bought was a little too big... so I had to shave off about a quarter inch on each side with a hacksaw lol. But got it done! Thanks for all the reply’s
