Talk to M R Dux - not only does he fish and guide from a Bay Boat he has one for sale - fully fitted for crappie.
Ok guys, I am getting rid of my pontoon and looking at buying a new boat. I mainly crappie fish but striper fish if the wife is with me. I also occasionally bream, bass, and catfish. Do a little bit of everything. I have been looking at the aluminum boats like the rangers, fiberglass like the triton (entry level), and bay boats like the xpress h20. Really like the versatility of the bay boats, but have never fished from one. The aluminum are in the 20-25K, fiberglass is about 25K, and the bay is the most expensive at about 28K. Any input is appreciated especially if you have a bay boat. Thanks.

Old enough to know better and way too old to care!
I have a bay boat and fishes very well except the center console gets in the way often. Granted mine is only 18' but still bothers me. I have fished on bigger 24' bays ad dont seem as bad. If I were buying again with same needs I would buy something like the Tracker Pro guides with side console or more of a flats boat design with shorter center console like a Mitzi Skiff if not looking for a bass boat type layout. Look at storage layouts on the bay boats, not near as much as it looks.
Come down to Ky Lake and you can operate mine as well as fish from it.
It will be available in a couple of weeks (fingers crossed). It is an Excel Bay Pro 203 with a 140 Suzuki 4 stroke with jack plate. Both are 2016 models. Tandem trailer is 2017. It has a 2016 Terrova 112 I-pilot 36volt with 3 Trojan 1275 golf cart batteries. There is a Humminbird Helix 10 DI on the bow with a Podunk Ideas Da’ducer Apparatus for the transducer. A Helix 12 Mega Chirp SI/DI is on the console. Electronics and engine have separate batteries. MinnKota chargers are included. There will be 4 Millennium B100 chairs and a Millennium SideKick double seat. Both livewells have recirculating pumps as well as shut-offs. All of my rod racks and transport racks will be on it. It will be sold just like I fished it in Crappie USA this weekend.
I can’t price it here but will by PM.

I have had all kinds and fished from all kinds in my lifetime. I love a bay boat for fishing but its not that comfortable as far as seating and it was a Scout 23FT. Me and the wife got tired of leaning up against a leaning post all day and it did have 2 rear seats, but they weren't that comfortable either.Your not going to get the stability and ride out of a aluminum boat that you would out of a glass boat. I also fish for about everything. I'm getting old and I have bought my last boat a year ago that I can do everything out of. Its comfortable, rides great, fishes great, the wife loves it,I can even take other peoples young'uns tubing or skiing if I want.Very stable and rides great. I bought a ranger 1880 angler. So I guess I would look for something like that if I were you. Good luck with your search,I know there's a lot of things to consider.

Give the new Vexus aluminum boats a look. I love my 1880, better layout and storage of all the tin boats I looked at before buying.
I wonder why? I know there is a huge demand for the new Mercury 200 and 250 ProXS. Wonder if same block maker.
