Plane cxx filler spool problems

I've used CXX several times. It's just thicker and has more memory. If you are familiar with berkley line; CX is like trilene XL, and CXX is like trilene XT.

Last year I bought some Seagar Red Label and had the same issue. Put a bolt through a board and it works. However, this year I spooled all my reels the way Shaw suggested. I have not been fishing yet. Plan on going this week...we shall see.

THATS IT! seaguar was the other brand I was trying to think of in my above post. That catches the spool worse than pline for me.

Interesting that you use Pline CXX on your spinning reels. It was my understanding that CXX was designed for casting reels and not for spinning reels.

Have you have good success with CXX on your spinning reels?

Yeah. No problems.
I usually get 4 or 6lb. This one I have now is 2lb test. Great especially fishing trout in streams.

I was thinking,
If you spoiled it like Shaw there..
had the spool vertical the line comes off the top of the spool it would be the same as counter clockwise? Right?
If it came off the bottom it would be clockwise...
So if you spolled it vertically line coming off the top of the spool it would be the same as doing it the way I said laying flat line coming off counter clockwise...
Thoughts ....??

I think you're overthinking.

All I can say is I've been spooling my line like that for at least twenty years (long before there was such a thing as Youtube.)

All my reels are Daiwa or Shimano, and they all have some type of "anti-line twist" mechanism built into them. I guess I'm just one of the few "geeky" guys who actually read the instructions that came with the reel. The instructions said that spooling the line like the video shows is the correct way.

I run my baitcasters off of the top and my spinning rods off of the bottom. Haven't had a problem.
