    Default Hummingbird 360 questions

I am buying a HB 360 for my next boat I知 looking to get soon. Couple questions... 1) does the image quality you get with your 360 based on the graph itself or are all graphs gonna show it about the same? I知 looking at the Helix 10 currently. 2) can you still use the factory mega transducer with the 360?

Transducer of the unit your viewing the 360 on is used if you want depth and temp settings when you use the 360. 360 is a transducer itself but it doesn’t give depth or temp readings. 360 setting used is 455 MHz and you get a good pic using it, my recommendation is viewing 360 on a 10 or bigger as I like using the 360 in “front view “ setting and not entire circle view on a 10 screen. I also like using fine/fast sweep over standard sweep setting. The larger Humminbird units 10 and 12 have more pixels per sq. Inch and will give a better detailed picture as well as you can use any mega transducer with the 360.

Where do you mount your mega transducer? I will have another graph up front for 2D & DI but was curious anyways. Especially if that痴 is required for temp and depth

Because the 360 operates on 455 MHz you need to run your other units and transducer settings in a different frequency setting other than 455 or you will get cross talk. I always had a small but noticeable bit of crosstalk in viewing the 360 pic as I have the 360 mounted using Rickie’s Da Ducer. Podunkideas.com I had also my Mega DI transducer mounted to it, then also moved it and mounted to bottom of trolling motor, with still alittle but noticeable cross talk when the mega 10 was networked to a 7 mega DI g3n upfront for viewing 2d. Messed with all the settings for a while and then moved it to back of my G3 1648 jon on one side of the very back and opposite side is my 9 mega Si transducer for the console unit as well. Seemed to be the easiest workable solution for this boat and setup. What you will find is, yes, you can run all 3 depth finders front and back on different settings networked. However, to my problem, and it might not be yours when you install and set yours up, is I always encountered alittle cross talk when using the 360 with everything else turned on.. One solution to my cross talk problem was, disconnect and remove the upfront 7’s transducer as I use it for just 2d and fishing charts, networked the 7 for 2d to the 10 MDI’s transducer that is upfront and 10 is used to view the 360. 90% of the time I fish by myself, so turn off the 9 MSI on the console and when the wife is with me, then it on and just set it to 2d for her. One thing about the 360 also, is you can use it for viewing on the 10 for SI and gives a really good pic as the 360 when used for SI is viewed using 455 MHz. When everything is networked your options front and back are quite numerous. Just remember if you use a Humminbird unit networked without a transducer attached, networked to operate off a different unit, be sure and turn the unit without the attached transducer to “ sonar off” in its settings or you can burn your units mother board up as I have been instructed by others on the bbc forum. My 7 has the sonar setting turned off, but is networked to the 10 to view 2d for example.

I personally don’t see enough difference in a 9 and 10. I have both and tried on both , gonna use my 9 so I can split screen my 10 with other views.

You get a larger picture of the 360 on the larger screen. As the old saying goes, bigger is better. Of course, you can expand the pic also.
