    Default The old reliable

I have been trying new spots to fish a lot this winter and have been leaving my old reliable ice fishing spot alone. I bought a cheap snowmobile this fall to get me places I don't normally fish in the winter and have been having a hard time getting on the fish. Not that I am complaining. I knew there was going to be a lot of time spent coming up empty in order to learn new things. However, sometimes you need to have fish in your belly. The old reliable

So my buddy and I went to the place we have been ice fishing the most the last few years in hopes to put some food on the table again. It worked great for me but not so much for him. We both fished within 20 feet of each other. Marked fish on both our flashers, and used similar jigs and such. The only difference, which he doesn't know by the way,The old reliable is that I was using G sauce. I've never even told him I have it but I have to have some sort of edge in our little friendly competition. The old reliable

Anyway I ended up catching around 25 fish and he caught 3. I took home 13 that ranged from 9 to 11 inches. A little smaller than I normally keep but, I really was craving fish tacos.

It was nice to have some fish to bring home again. Next time I probably will do some more exploring. I should probably clue my buddy in about the Slab Sauce and G Sauce I have but then again I might leave him in the dark a little longer. The old reliable

The fish tacos did not disappoint by the way.

Very well done. Wow!!! The first three phases of the hunter gatherer process.
Thanks for not showing the way the crappies look in the next phase.
    Thanks for sharing.

I am curious how you make them. I usually am super simple about it. Just fried fish, red cabbage, and chipotle aioli. This time I added avocado and queso. They were very good.

Nice report! Hopefully in another month or so, we'll be fishing open water!
