I just like the tug on my line and being out on the water. A saved many crappie trips by catching some bluegill. I have saved trips fishing for white bass. I have never been a bass fisherman because I seldom filled the boat fishing for them all day. I will flip over to catfishing when the sun goes down because it is a relaxing way of fishing. I prefer fishing with lures but will switch over to live bait in a country minute if it is required. I just like catching fish on the proper size tackle.

I prefer crappie for the table. I like to catch crappie, bluegills etc. Bass fishing is my favorite. Bigger fish, bigger battles. Catching a 5 lb smallmouth is as much fun as a man can have with his clothes on LOL

Don't really eat fish much but do from time to time. Just prefer a sporting day on the water.

I've seen many rude fisher people especially on weekends, regardless of their prey. Tournament fishing is fun too but I know it's not for everyone whether it's a crappie derby or a bass derby.

I'm learning to ignore people that bother me.

Crappie taste better and they can make you work and think a little harder than most fish. I appreciate both. I don't think I know of any crappie guys who doesn't enjoy catching a different species of fish. I've known some that won't eat anything outside of the panfish family for whatever reasons. If they taste the best to many of us, maybe they are the only fish that even taste good enough to eat to people who don't like fish much at all?

Anyone else kinda feel like sport fishing is just tormenting animals for your own enjoyment?

Not that I'm against people who do, that's just my philosophy. I prefer to let them do their thing, unless I'm fish hungry.

Spent decades chasing green carp, nasty catfish, and the other denizens of the deep but love the unique challenge afforded chasing the illusive crappie, notwithstanding they are the only fresh water fish worth eating. Challenge and reward. Only fish there is.
