I don't do much single pole vertical jigging anymore but, when I do 10' is the shortest and 12' is the longest with reels on them to adjust line length.
    If you don't get hung every-once-n-a-while you ain't jigg'n it right..:D

I use 12 ft. Sam Heaton rods for jigging , 8 ft. for slip float rig , 7 ft . for casting . 14 ft for spider rigging . All of above for pulling cranks .

Long poles are for verticle jigging or trolling more so than casting. But some folks do cast them. I use 11 ft rod for single pole jigging. My trolling rods are 14 ft.

I didn’t buy into all the stuff about a dedicated jigging pole. Couple of years back I won a SHSS in 10’ with a rear reel seat. Paired it with a Diawa Sweepfire reel because I had it and it balanced best of what I had. Well now I have changed my mind and that rod gets a lot of play most every time I go that I’m not using my tiny rods. Very lightweight and truly sensitive. There is a hole through the cork to touch the blank and it balances right there. Doesn’t tire the forearm when using it for long periods. I find the length to be a good medium between long and short. Handle one before you buy anything else.

Hello: I bought a 20 ft. collapsible rod on e-bay for $8.00 as a joke. Dug it out the first time I had a couple buddies out fishing. It was a piece of junk but we had a good laugh. After loading the boat I just left it on a picnic table at the lake. Hopefully some kid found it and had some fun with it. Good Luck O R

Twenty years ago that was the norm . Actually they super seeded the cane pole with homemade guides and taped on reels .
