I stretch my line hard as I can in the desired amount of line I am about to use ….
this ensure 2 things for me right off the bat ….knot is strong and wont fail I hope …
and line twist is gone …and my drag is set right ….
I also frequently adjust depth by pulling line off the reel using my drag ….
and I set my drag fairly lose in most cases...
since I typically respool outside my truck door when I hit the water I don't have presoak time to play with ….
one thing for certain though I am not all that normal ….
    that's my 2 cents ...

I put the line on with no regard to a method. Tie the line to a tree and spool it back off by walking rod across the yard. Untie from the tree drop the line and reel it back up. Test for twist & repeat as needed. And use a swivel on planers.

Best thing i ever did was going strictly braided line with a leader. i prefer floracarbon but mono works . Learn to tie the double uniknot on you tube. Intial investment on line can be a little high but you save big in the long run and no more twist.👌

I wouldn't leave the line in water for days. Use warm water and it speeds up the process. Water absorbtion weakens line a lot!

Yep, soaking line like Richard Gene says for a couple days works.

Yep, stretching your line works too.

And also, TTI Blakemore's Real Magic works too. Just spray it on the line while it's on the spool. And it works fast too. Billbob just three weeks ago was using one of my rods that had real twisty line, and within five minutes of spraying it on it limped the line up real good. I tend to use Real Magic now just cause it's so much easier. I simply spray both sides of the spooled line while it's on my rods every now and again to keep it limped up. Usually do it when I'm done fishing so they're ready for the next trip.

Reel magic weakens line! Just about all manufacturers say not to use it. And everytime I've used it, my line has more memory than it does new. Definitely not good for fluorocarbon line. Turns it into a slinky and it becomes super stiff.

Dono, I've not had a problem with it.

LINE TWIST IS NOT MY PROBLEM BUT MEMBORY COILS IS A GREAT PROBLEM,I STRETCH MINE TO GET IT OUT,RUN IT BEHIND BOAT BUT IN A HOUR OF USE IT IS BACK ,WORST USING LIGHT BAITS 1/32 1/48 AND I USE MOSTLY 1500 REELS,HATE TO USE 2500 BUT DO HAVE A FEW WHICH DO BETTER,I THINK WITH A LOT OF USE GETTING LINE WET THEN DRY ON SPOOL MAKES IT WORST,HAVE EVEN LET IT STAY PULL OUT ALL DAY STRETCH OUT TIGHT AND IN A HOUR CURLS BACK AGAIN ,SPRAYSON LINE DID NO BETTER FOR ME BUT IT HELP ON CASTING REELS WHICH I NO LONGER USE,WHAT SUGGESTION FOR CURLS AND LIGHT BAITS,I THINK SOME REELS ARE WORST THAN OTHERS
