I didn't sic him on the guides. They have no problem piling in on me when they see me catching fish. I know most of the guides on the lake and most of the time they have the same people fishing around them. At age 71 I suppose I know about as much as I need to catch fish.

never been there but got invited to go in late march ….our plan is to carry a john boat and waders and try to figure it out ….
that said I for sure will ask fifty questions at every tackle store within shout distance of the lake .
if someone tells me approx. where I bet my bud and I can find one ….or 2

someone somewhere over there is a chatty local and will in fact give up what you need to know I promise
ask the right questions and be right friendly and for sure a person who knows will tell you what you need to find them fish .
I once visited a lake I never went to and the bait shop fella sent me right to a brush pile across the lake and we sat there on top of it for hours wearing out crappie.....

When I go to my local lake, I find that the marina employees or bait shop workers always know....usually they don't mind sharing unless they are also guides....most cases the guides will tell you water depth and how to fish...just not where ...lol

I would venture into it with a little more humbleness and a little less entitlement. Just cause a store keeper tells you fish is in 6 foot of water it don't mean much. Considering at high water 20'000 acres or so of the lake is that depth. Can be a tough lake anytime, it's not a pay for fish dock or a local canal holding overpopulated dink size crappie. If the water is high and you don't hire a guide or get some local info I wouldn't puff my chest out to much until after you catch em'..
