That reminds me of rafting except it was called surfing. Amazing what the power of water is. Always to be respected!

That was at the 6th Street dam in Grand Rapids, Mi. They were steelhead fishing and when they dropped anchor there was a log that was being rolled by the current that grabbed their anchor and reeled them in. Luckily there were other boats out and they got rescued fairly quickly and all were ok.
The older I get the more I realize the therapeutic benefits of fishing

Worlds proudest grandpa x6"D" thanked you for this post
its also when your whitewater kayaking and you get caught in a hydraulic like that, and I have been caught in a couple myself, being “washing machined”. and it’s very ugly. Puts the fear of God in you. And total Repect for the force of water!
A life jacket in that situation, does not keep you from being sucked under.

Wow! What I didn’t see.......not a single PFD!?
I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.
your right! But it makes no difference in a hydraulic of a dam as it wouldn’t have helped them. We walked around every dam we always came to whitewater kayaking, but it’s the same hydraulics of water when going over waterfalls if you run them in the wrong spots misreading the current of water even if your wearing a pdf and a dry suit. Most wicked situation to be avoided at all costs. They were very lucky!Originally Posted by ET Fish;[URL="tel:3740597"

Yes when we went rafting everyone was required to wear a pfd and there are several spots where if you fell in it would suck you under. We watched a tour group all wearing pfd's jump off a little rock into the river and they would be sucked under but eventually be spit out about 50 - 100' down stream... amazing and scary! Imagine not having a pfd on.
It’s called the Secret Hole. Heck of a underwater hydraulic on the New. Gaulie has 29 class 5 rapids!
