Look at Kayak life jackets as they are designed to not hamper movement. But curious why you dont want to stick with inflatable as they are very comfortable?
Need some help, have been using inflatable pfd for several years. I am now 72 just had back surgery (l4-l5-s1 fusion) fish by myself most of the time. Would like to go with a regular flotation jacket, but want one that doesn't restrict movement much. I have looked at several different styles but looking for opinions. Price is not the biggest factor when in this area. I put my pdf on before I get in the boat and take if off when boat is back on trailer. Thanks

I have the NRS Chinook and find it very comfortable. It has the high back and tons of pockets. I keep clippers on the front bungee and hemostats in the pocket as well as a emergency whistle and fishing license. I also keep my phone in one of the pockets once I launch. I find it much more comfortable then the old style bass pro life jacket I had.

I'm 66, two back surgeries and a knee replacement and wear an inflatable PFD. While I don't always wear it when fishing with someone it's always on when I'm alone, quite comfortable. However if you don't want to wear one do as huntinlabs suggests and get a kayak vest, I also kayak and have one of those as well.

Yup on the kayak style pfd. Astral, Stohlquist, NRS, Extrasport, MTI are some of the leading brands.
I use a kayak style vest also but I don't wear it except when running the outboard. When fishing alone I wear my auto inflating vest from the time I get in the boat until I'm on dry land.
You will find that after a while you won't notice the vest like you do at first. It won't matter what brand you choose as long as it fits properly. I have been wearing a regular vest style PFD at all times in my boat for years. I mean from the time I untie at the dock until I am back on the trailer. My work required it so it just became routine. PFD's only work when you are wearing them. A man can go overboard at any time - it seems like that is why it is called an accident. I have had to depend on my PFD before and I am glad it was there.
