I built a forward casting deck on mine. I used well supported 5/8" exterior BC plywood which I completely encapsulated in two coats of epoxy resin. I applied fiberglass cloth to all edges. I then installed using stainless screws and bolts/nuts as required. In the center I cut and installed a small hatch, beneath which is my trolling motor btry and charger. I sealed the hatch cutout exactly the same and installed the hatch with marine sealant. I also used the same sealant at every screw and bolt. Finally I coated it with gray Tuff-Coat which, if you're not familiar is similar to spray bedliner and made for marine applications. This entire project was quick and easy, the result is a very sturdy, solid deck on which I stand and sit. I guarantee it will not leak nor degrade and probably added only 30 or so lbs of weight. Properly installed plywood is often used by manfacturers, the main deck in my boat is factory installed plywood, 11 years old. Do not use treated wood, it will degrade aluminum where it makes contact.

Thank you for the picture. This is very similar to what I had in mind. And I have the exact same hatch door I have to cut out for and remount
