Oops, mis-spoke this morning when I stated we do not see fish like that caught from the bank. The world record was indeed caught from the bank in our great State just recently, maybe you will catch the next one in Texas!!

Nice fish! I am like you I fish for enjoyment and practice C&R religiously.

I do not even have a livewell on my boat and do not want or need one.

The times I catch a big one like you I smile and slip it back in the water unharmed to the best of my abilities.

I think that the number of "club" tournaments that are held weekly on many of our smaller lakes and have influenced both a decline in the numbers and quality fish that come out of these lake now compared to times in the past.

I for one as far as tournaments are concerned am glad to see the MLF format that focuses on handling and landing the fish and does a immediate weigh and release rather than toting around fish in a livewell all day and then to a weigh in in a bag stressing the fish. I hope this becomes the normal way to handle fish and protect our fisheries.

Glad to see I am not the only non competitive one that just enjoys fishing for the challenge and enjoys watching them swim away after catching them.
