If you shop for a used motor make sure it is of the newer model. The spot lock on the older model motors is not supposed to be as good or accurate as to holding a specific spot as those on the newer motors.

I believe they made the change for the 2017 and newer motors but you may want to verify that to be positive.

I went from an Edge 45lb 12v with a 45" shaft to an Ultrex 80lb 24v with a 45" shaft and could not be happier. Our boat is a 16.5ft Alumacraft and the 45lb moved it fine but the 80lb will pull a skier lol. I run the motor on the lower 1/3 of the speed dial and after hours of fishing it only takes my onboard charger a couple hrs to show fully charged again. I completely understand about the budget but at least give Brian a call. He may have some resources to find exactly what you need.

Good luck whichever direction you go...

I have been looking for a deal on a MK Terrova I-pilot for an Alweld 1756 VV boat I have coming in a couple weeks. Zilch on Craigslist and other places...
I read this, and just got off the phone with Brian at BBGMarine.com. So glad I called him - I got a good deal, plus he's semi-local, and I always try to support local businesses over huge retailers and Amazon when I can. In my case, this was a smart move. Highly recommended.

Brian is awesome, ordered my Terrova from him earlier this year and he actually advised on a model that saved me some money that has fit my needs and wants perfectly.

I ordered mine right after lunch on a Monday and the UPS guy was delivering it on Wednesday right after lunch. Excellent service and super fast turn around for included free shipping for an item oversized and that heavy.

Also bought my Helix 9 from him as well, awesome person to deal with!
