    Default Before and After!

After extremely early cold weather, with skim ice starting to form on the ponds, Walt & I decided it was time to put the boat away for this season. So, yesterday, Thursday, we accomplished this task:

We finished the task about mid afternoon. The weather gurus said we would probably get 2" - 5" of snow that night, with clearing by mid day. Well, they were just a tad off predictions. We easily got between 6" - 8" of the heavy, wet white stuff before all was said & done. What a difference a day makes:

Doesn't look like much in this photo, but that was after the freezing rain & sleet made the accumulating snow as hard as concrete! Tough job to dig out of for sure. Finally completed the clean-up by 10:00 am this morning (having starting at 7:30 am). Here is what the heaviest accumulation looked like by about 8:30 am:

Yep....it is New England afterall. But at 74, I'm getting just a tad tired of it. LOL! Oh well, blowing and shoveling sure does keep your heart in condition - or it kills you! Guess we won't be doing any crappie fishing in the foreseeable future. March, 2019 - HURRY UP!

Looking forward to the reports from you more southern folks! Keep a tight line.

You northern folks sure have some funny looking lawn mowers in the wintertime, never used one and hope to never have to .

Got about 3" here in mid Michigan. I still do it the old fashioned way unless we get hammered, then I get out the quad and push it. Sounds crazy but I enjoy going out before daylight and shoveling. Nothing like getting chilled to make the coffee taste good.

Yep, I think this storm will bring a halt to my trips as well, unless we get a 60-70 degree day in the next week or 2 and that doesn't seem likely. We got a good 8 inches here, too, topped with some rain as the snow ran out, then turned back to snow and gave us another thin covering. With soft, saturated ground it was just a joy to plow; 90% of what I need to plow is gravel. What a mess!
As Crestliner says, keep the reports and pictures coming, you guys that don't get the snow. We'll be reading and wishing!

You reminded me of why I don't live in New England any more. Stay warm.

Put my boat away late last week also. I was hoping for at least 2 more outings but recently mother nature has been brutal here in Maine. Had a snowstorm Tuesday and another one today. Should be on ice soon enough though. Next week's temps look good for making ice. Should be jigging some Crappie soon.
