Default Help me plan a trip in March

I have a 9 year old son who is starting to get the fishing itch(happy day for me). We fish locally for bass/walleye, but I like to take him on a few trips/year just for crappies. I admit that I have a lot to learn about crappie fishing. Typically, I'll hire a guide for a day, and then fish on our own the next day or two. It's too cold to fish for crappies in Northern Illinois so I'd like to head south for a long weekend.

I've been considering Grenada, but I've also read that it can be hit or miss. Where would you recommend we go for good action? Things will heat up in central Illinois in May, but it would be nice to cure some cabin fever in March. Thanks in advance!!

Poverty Point, Louisiana. Might not get huge numbers but there are some hogs in there. Also have hybrid strippers that should be pushing 24" this year and are a blast to fight. Fairly easy Lake to figure out, too.

Hire one of the guides in Mississippi... all the lakes are within driving distance and they all go wherever the fish are biting... if you wanted to get a cabin I recommend cossar state park on Enid simply because if you stay at Enid it's a short trip to Sardis or grenada!

Lake Washington --- Jerry Gross -- Meatgetter Guide Service --- They also have a full line of Custom Jigs ... In March the Crappie will be Pre- spawn or Spawning depending on the Weather. Check him out on his Facebook Page .. He is a friend and do you right -- If you want I can send a PM with his Phone number.... His Calendar fills up quick in the spring

Come to martin in march. Not big fish like Mississippi but quantity. I have a basement with options to guide. You can hire me one day then fish on your own the other days.
