If you really do have carpal tunnel (and from your post it sounds like it) have you considered treatment? Numbness while driving and night waking from numbness or pain is common with CTS. It is caused by compression of the median nerve. While wearing night splints can help, the definitive treatment is carpal tunnel release and the primary reason to do the surgery is to prevent further damage to the nerve. Once the nerve is damaged it cannot be un-damaged. Most patients get complete relief if treated timely. Delaying treatment can lead to permanent damage and residual symptoms that may not go away. If you have not already done so, I would encourage you to see an orthopedist you trust. Dont want to lose your grip on your pole when that 3 pounder bends it double. CTS can be easily treated.

I do what my late dad did years ago. Take a metal coffee can and fill it up half way with sand. then put in 5 or 6 charcoal briquettes and light them up. hover your hands across the top and they will keep your hands warm for many hours on the cheap.

Tried the latex gloves and it helped keep my hands warm and not much interference with casting.

I'm dealing with the carpal tunnel issue in my right hand presently,Doc issued a wrist stabilizer to help prolong surgery. The injury to my left hand has forced me to use my other hand more, this has caused extra stress on the tendons, leading to numbness/ tingling in the fingers.
I agree with those who say you may be experiencing CPT,have it checked out,if it does get worse and requires surgery,DO NOT, I repeat,DO NOT have surgery on both wrist at the same time.A buddy of mine had both done at once.......when he went to the bathroom it dawned on him why it was a stupid thing to do!

I went and bought some surgical gloves last week cause of this thread. Tried them as I launched it was 37 Saturday and then warmed to 52 by noon and had to take them off as was sweating. I am impressed.

For surgical/exam gloves, also try the black ones. Usually in auto or farm and home stores. The black will help if the sun is shining.
Get the next size up also. Put brown jersey gloves under them.

I put up with that for 25yrs. get it fixed and it will change your life. trust me its not hat bad. I was in and out in 1 hour or less. one hand then other. your down a while but well worth it! they don't put you out either. you get to watch the entire thing. after the first needle you don't feel a thing. do yourself a favor and at least think about it.
