I thought I'd report back on this. I've been exclusively using this knot just like the guy ties it, since I watched the video. I'm using 10# mono to tie the slip knot with. It has worked exceptionally well. Get's good and tight, and doesn't slip, unless you want it to. I am trimming the tabs off short like a normal store bought knot. It also doesn't "wrinkle" your fishing line like the string knots do.

I have been using it as well, it works better than all of the store bought stops.

Been playing with some different floats as well, Thill stealth have been my favorite so far, and the only ones that seem to work without adding a lot of weight. I've been using them with a 1/48 oz jig and a small weight of about the same size.

i have been using a B&M ultimate crappie pole 8' and 10' with a slip float, 8lb mono and no issue. I prefer the threaded type becuse i dont have to have multiple sizes based on line size.

That is my go to rod for slip floating. Paired the 8ft Ultimate with an older Pflueger President 6720 reel with either 6lb or 8lb test.

Why are you guys using such long poles when using slip floats? I'm not questioning your tactics, I'm wondering what I'm missing by using a 5' or 5' 6" pole which is what I typically use with a slip float.

Quite a few reasons, but mainly a longer rod will pick up a lot more line sitting on the water.

I use long rods for hook set and castability.

I've got used to using the longer rods & now seldom fish with any shorter than 7ft. And use it for bass fishing.

To save time on the water, I tied up some stops using dental floss on the tiny straws stirrers they use at McDonalds and other restaurants. That way I can just slip the line through the straw and slide the stop off the straw. This is how the commercial line ties are set up, I just stole their idea. I like his method of tying the knot though, much simpler than how I was doing it.
