The thing I remember most about his fish is that he said the fish did not put up a fight at all. It just came in like a like wet towel. I am still trying to break the 3 lb crappie mark. A fish his size is only something I can dream about
If it’s that easy - go for it. Be sure to post a picture when your home grown fish breaks Jam’s world record.

What JP said above.
Growing a fish to be a record is akin to buying a fish from someone else to win a tourney. Bad ethics.
Creativity is just intelligence fooling around

Or kinda like hunting a deer using a high-tech Satellite or Drone. Or kinda like fishing with a $$$$ sonar fish-finder.

indeterminate growth rates will produce a specimen in fish that is a world record for sure at some point if left long enough to grow and its possible with numerous species . I love the fact he was bank angling and from what I saw it was the only fish on his stringer and he was right beside a road that appeared to be a public road and had the fish on a .99 cent Walmart yellow cord stringer .
Tip your hat and don't be jealous and I say KABOOM bro ….real nice fish !

I just want to make sure that everyone understands my previous messages.
I was always curious as to IF something like this would be considered for a record. Not because I don't feel it would be worthy in any way shape or form but, rather the perception of what others might think. I always had in my mind that my luck would be to catch something like this, in a similar situation, and have people say "it doesn't count". I personally am glad that the decision is that it IS in fact a record regardless of where it was caught and I congratulate Mr. Fergusun!
I would love to find out as much information about the genetics of this fish as possible along with it's age. From that, we could get a pretty good barometer of how fast these fish actually grow! Let's hope that this fish passed on those genetics!
I have OCD "Obsessive Crappie Disorder"
Actually, it was caught from a private "pond" (spring fed, weedy body of water that's 1 acre across & 18' deep) ... and as you can see from this picture, it's on a blue cord stringer :
I think the picture of him beside a public road, that you're referring to, is this one :
But that's taken when he was having the TWRA verify the weight & species for the records.
