For the safety of myself and my crew, the three seconds it takes to remove the seat and post is far better than the outcome that could happen if I didn't remove it. Regardless of the type of seat. Altering the way I sit in the captains chair or standing up while the boat is moving above idle speed is not a safety option in my opinion. We where a PFD and a tether for issues that happen that are out of our control. Removing the seat to provide an unubstructed view while underway IS something that is within our control!
Just get in the habit of removing the seat regardless of the type. Much better piece of mind!
