Easiest short term fix, don’t use the loop knot. Even that isn’t 100%. Squeezing them shut is better, and applying heat is counterproductive. Heating them would change the temper making the metal softer IMHO. Best I can offer is to deal with one of our guys from here that sell hand poured jig heads and inspect them on arrival. If they’re bad send em back. Matzuo and Eagle Claw both had occasional issues with this, just a quality control thing. Bugman ( Simply Crappie) and Grousefly both do nice work with Grousefly being busy and sometimes a little slower to ship. Guys here fish themselves and seldom make a defective product. As for the jigs you have, take em back and make a little noise and see if they will replace them.

I've seen this issue before when pouring jigs and selling them. I've sent back entire batches of hooks from companies because of this. It sucks that you would have to change the type of knot you use simply because the manufacturer tolerances were not tight enough on that particular day to make the hook correct.

If you decide to go the plier route (which is what I would do), utilize a pair of rubber jawed pliers. You can get the clamping pressure that you need to close the gap without knicking the hook eye or creating a burr! They make a set of pliers (flat nose) with a slit down the middle of the face of each jaw. This slit is to allow the wire of the hook to sit inside the jaws without rocking from side to side.

A DIY tip would be to simply use a set of flat nose pliers of your choosing and wrap the jaws with painters tape! Or dip them in rubber coat. Or shrink tube each jaw. This will eliminate those burrs that could cause an additional issue for you!

Get some head cement put a drop on your knot does two things closed gap and secures line to keep jig level dries before you can get a new body on jig your mileage may vary but works for me

I've lost several this way as well with 4lb. I can't remember which brand they were or if it's even been brand specific.

Thanks to all that have replied.
I feel much better knowing that I'm not the only one that has ever had this problem. The ol' "misery loves company" deal.
Also some very creative ways to fix the ones that I have so I can at least use them up without losing fish.
Moving forward, I'm going to hit up a couple of the members listed previously above to see about purchasing from them. I like to support good folks.
Either way, I'll not buy any others that have this design or quality defect cause I really, really like that loop knot and hate losing fish.

My solution so far is to use the medium Fas-Snap. It's a little tough to get the eye of the jig clipped on, but at least I still get the loop knot effect
