    4)Hard plastics, "cranks, etc"
    5)other

Then another for those who answered one, another for those who answered 2, and same with 3.

JMO, I think it will be hard to get comprehensive with just one poll.

It's also gonna be hard to answer.

When I'm single pole fishing, I use a Stinger type bait. When I'm longlining I use more curly tailed jigs and when I'm spider rigging I use minnerds.
    Agreed.

I once considered putting together a similar poll for lines, but there are just too many options. People use multiple baits for multiple methods. You could never get it all in one poll.

Polls should ask specific questions and give specific options for possible answers.

So I'm gonna throw out what I think first, and please add anything I might be missing. Once we have a list, I'll put up the poll and see what everyone's favorite is. I do not want "brand names", just generic names of lures.

    Plain Hook and Minnow
Hair Jig (I like to just say fuzzy jig cause it may or may not be hair)
    Plastic Grub/Minnow
    Plastic Tube Bait
    Plastic Curly Tail
    Plastic Paddle Tail
    Horse Head Willow Blade
    Horse Head Colorado Blade
    Beetle Spin
    Deep Diving Crank Bait
    Shallow running Crank Bait

And I know minners could be added to most jigs, but so can scent and such, so we're really only talking Lures, not adjuncts. Except in the case of the plain old minner/hook option above.

Let me know what I am missing.
Okay I need break min into separate times of the year. That is because I almost exclusively use a 1/32 Horse Head (Roadrunner mostly Willow, but also Colorado and Indiana blades) in spring and fall. However in summer I use a normal hand tied chenille and feather jig. Now still many time in the summer I will use a double drop and the one on the bottom will be either 1/8 or 1/4 Oz jig and above that a drop shot hook for a minnow. It's been a while but I have used a hand tied spinner bait on them too and use to buy some 1/48 or 1/32 oz spinner baits that we did really well on. Not sure I see them any more?

Oh and on the Roadrunners or Horse Head jigs I like Marabou tails and on the regular jig heads I like Hackle and I also like Marabou tails!

I have a lot of soft plastic baits, but it seems they sit in my cabinet, guess I should try them more?

Dang I failed to mention kip tails jigs and these are in my thinking kind of a separate kind of jig, but I guess it could be included with buck tail, but then there is Arctic Fox and Rabbit hair which is super soft almost like Marabou! When the water is on the cool side kip tail is hard to beat!

    B) Artificials only
    C) Mix of artificials and minnows.

What is your favorite jig body material?

    A) Hair/fur
    B) Feathers
    C) Plastic

What is your favorite plastic body type?

    A) Straight tail
    B) Curly tail
    C) Paddle tail
    D) Tube

What is your favorite bait length?

    A) 1"
    B) 2"

Don't forget hard jigging/ripping minnow lures, I had pretty good luck with them this year.

DB4D has a great idea here. Easy to use and to understand.

I would add to his list...

    What is your favorite weight?
    a) No weight...hook or tied fly only
    b) 1/64th
    c) 1/32nd
    d) 1/16th
    e/ 1/8th

Do you use Slab sauce or some other attractant?
    a) yes
    b) no
    c) some other

For me, if I only had one lure that I knew I could catch a crappie and eat that day....it would be a 1/16th Road Runner with a 2" soft plastic trailer. Add some Slab Sauce. Call momma and say "Get Lake Crisco Ready. I got me one and it's good fer ya!"
