I bought my first bass boat in 1977 and the prop rod we used to support the engine from the lower unit to the transom was called a "Motor Toter" Bought my 1st one from the dealer I bought my boat from. It continues to be "Motor Toter" to this day in my verbage.

Many of the words we use are "colloquial terminology" ... for sure ... but, I hope we don't have to go to the extent of a "Urban Dictionary" to define what we're talking about.
I particularly enjoyed the story I read earlier about the guy in Las Vegas trying to catch strippers off the bank. Sounds legit to me.....lol

    Slab,

I get where you are going with this. It used to be, that when you did a search online for something (say: How to tie crappie jigs) crappie dot come would always pop up with our different forums and threads. Heck, I've googled battery related stuff before and gotten some of Catfan's articles as the first source of reference. For us, we usually click on them because we know and trust the members on this site. Even if the search result is listed at number 4 or 5. Now, the search results are not showing up like they used to.

I think, in large part, it is due to the titling or verbage more than anything. We might utilize the term "tips and tricks" but that really references anything under the sun. When you compartmentalize it to "How TO" it becomes a much bigger deal. Most people do not do an internet search like "tips and tricks for changing a light bulb". Instead, their searches look like: "How to change a light bulb". Spelling on those can play a huge role in what pops up.

Some people might utilize "Step Sister" and you will find 130 articles HOWEVER, some might use "Stepsister" and there be an additional 700 articles.

So, I might write an article that says "Tips and tricks for catching crappies with minners". That probably isn't going to show up in a google search very well. However, if we change it to: "How to catch crappies with Minnows", I'm betting it pops up close to the top of the search!

Did a search on "how to get website to show up in google" and got lots of information. This is a link I thought might be helpful.

How to Get Your Website Found on Google

I remember working years ago with a guy that did websites. He kept stressing the importance of keywords and meta tags. Lots of technical stuff to this above my head.

It's called Google Adwords. Learned about it this past spring in a Ecommerce class.
There are different certifications thru Adwords.
Also, there are a whole slough og ways that this program can help a website. Word repetition and usage is huge, and Google is calculating that 24 hours a day.

A typical initial computer screen shot is broken down into levels where the very top 3 are the most costly. Costly can be arranged by clicks, clicks that lead to leads, and clicks that lead to an actual sale.
As the screen page goes down so does the costs. Now, with Adwords account, there are free services but you must manage all the aspects and make the necessary changes. The program will blow your mind but if used properly can increase traffic to a site.
