I posted an article about rod action yesterday. It explains the different types of action and also shows illistration of what a specific action will do on different weight rods.
Feel free to pose a question out there regarding any questions you might have relating to rod selection. When building custom rods, we get very specific regarding the intent or purpose the rod is going to be built for.

Thank you for the reply wicklundrh. As I think I said, I am new to this, and have thought of it for a while. My confusion on the blank selection comes from the info pages on the blanks, like where it says what weight lures or line to use. I fish mainly with the 1/32 to 1/16 oz heads with from 2 to 8 lb lines. I am interested in making a 9' to 12' 2pc rods for crappie fishing/ panfish fishing. Occasionally it would be used with light weight slip floats. What rods would you suggest in the low to mid price range. I would be making these for myself, not to sell and like to say, "hey I made this myself, and was able to catch fish with it". Kind of a pride thing. Any suggestions would help.
I have read where some have used fly rod blanks to make the longer poles for light weight fishing but there again, I really don't know where to start, and don't want to throw money,( which is in short supply right now ) away on something that wont work. Thank you again for any help and suggestions. And I did read your thread yesterday and it helped a lot, thank you for that. Eric, AKA "jamesdean".
All, I just posted a new article entitled "How to get Started".
I do not go in to detail on how to build a rod but rather provide you will a list of tools, locations to purchase those tools, and photographs of the tools needed in order to get started in the hobby. I also provide a link to a YouTube series that I reccommend to anyone looking to get started.
Eric,
I'll try and answer your questions over in that forum!
