How do I figure total boat weight?

i have a 97 Ranger fish and ski which dry weight of 1,587'stamped on inside of boat,,,,modes that usually include boat motor as well? I know gas,equipment and trailer Ned's to be added as well when figuring tow weight her,,,many one help,please

It's my understanding that the "dry weight" does NOT include the weight of the outboard (or any other added components) ... since the outboard motor can have varying weights depending on its size (HP) and style (2strk or 4strk). "Dry Weight" is merely the weight of a boat without any added fluids (gas/livewell water/or engines).

You should be able to get the motor, batteries & trolling motor weight from the mfg sites. Figure 6 lbs. per gallon of gas. Estimate gear best you can. You could also tow it to a truck scale & get the weight that way.

Cotton gins and a lot of truck stops have scales that will weigh the whole rig. Just pull on the scales, dolly down, pull the truck off, weigh, and subtract the trailer.

^^^^ This is the most accurate, lots of public scales around,cost a few bucks to weigh.

Pilot will weigh it on their scales. Less than 2000 Lbs no charge. I.m sure yours is more but Jon boats probably under 2000, mine was 1980.

Isn't it radius squared times pi? Or maybe A squared plus B squared equals C squared? Or mass times volume... ah my head hurts. Take the old girl to the scales and have her weighted.
