In the last year I've gravitated towards using 1/32 oz and 1/24 oz jig heads when fish are less active, the reason being that the more the lure is in their strike zone, the more apt the fish will be irritated to strike. Your video demonstrates that. I don't vertical jig as much as make long casts and work the lures horizontally at different depths.
I made some lures and gave some for a friend to try. Instead of swimming them, he worked them deadstick right on bottom and started catching fish. The cone tail grub was rigged on a 1/24 oz jig which he found did better than using a 1/16 oz. I'll use a 1/32 oz with #2 hook when casting a 4" Gary Y Kut Tail Worm and the bite is sensational in shallow water with 5 species of fish caught.
Anglers may think the hooks on small jigheads too small to catch fish, but I know different. As long as the curve of the hook comes out at 1/3 of the length, I'm convinced a turned on fish get hooked and prove it all the time.
Thanks for the video. Wish more posted examples of the lures they catch fish with.
