Default I-Pilot link or TM goofing up. Which one?

When I troll, I usually use the auto pilot on my Ulterra. That shows my projected path and also where I've already been on the map on my Helix. A boat icon shows up on the screen, and a line is projected from the "bow" of that icon.

That icon is not consistently showing up on my screen. It's either flashing on and off (going back to a circle icon showing position) or staying off for extended periods of time. The problem started about 2 weeks ago. It was literally working fine one day, and not working the next.

I called MK from the boat and they told me to call H'bird or either connected me to them.

The lady I talked with wanted to know what software version I was running and then told me how to find that. When I told her, she said that updating the software would fix the problem.

I haven't had time to get back on the water until yesterday. So I updated my Helix, my Ulterra and my Ulterra remote, all while sitting on the lake.

Nada. Still doing the same thing.

Is anyone else who has an Ulterra and MK fishfinder having this issue or does anyone know for sure which component is giving the problems?

Sounds like the age old complaint of the doughnut on Humminbird. When you get to going to slow the GPS can't update fast enough to keep boat icon displayed. Sounds like you need to buy and install the heading sensor puck that actually has a built in compass that will keep boat icon up and your projected lines displayed.

Did the course projection line show up always, or just when boat was moving?
Do you have a heading sensor installed?
If the line used to show with the boat still, heading sensor is not being utilized now.....
    I doubt it's your graph....
Make sure your heading sensor (if installed) is PAIRED with the trolling motor (Bluetooth).

Yes, I have the white puck.

I think the course projection line (purple line) is showing up all the time. It's the green line actual course that's blinking off and on.

on the Helix, when the line is flashing, go to the gps diagnostic page and confirm gps is locked on signal..

Check which gps source is selected for the Helix, internal or external gps puck.
Sounds like you may be losing gps lock....

Never had an issue after buying and installing the Humminbird As Gps Hs Precision Gps Antenna W/Heading Sensor. Rickie recommended it and it was one of the best purchases I ever made.

Just verify that that's the gps source selected on the Heliix.

I don't think I have the GPS puck with heading sensor. Whatever I have came with my Ulterra. I think it's a magnetic compass.

Thanks so much for all the replies.

Do you guys think it's worth calling H'bird or MK again or just get the antenna?

I still don't understand why it worked great one day and not the next. I was spider rigging both times. Moving very slowly and was in the same exact spot both days.

Thanks, I'll check it, if I can figure out how to find that screen. LOL
