He was lucky he only got a $1,000.00 fine and assault charges instead of attempted murder charges if he had struck a match.
"Enforcement agents with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries arrested a 64-year-old Farmerville man on Tuesday after he allegedly confronted fishermen legally fishing in front of his property and dock on Lake D’Arbonne — and poured gasoline on them in an attempt to get them to leave. Agents arrested Vincent Ditta for simple battery and harassment of fishermen, according to a press release. Three people complained to the LDWF on May 31, after they said Ditta threw gas on them while they were fishing in Lake D’Arbonne. Agents investigated, and found the anglers were legally fishing in front of Ditta’s property and dock when he allegedly poured gasoline on them from a handheld gasoline tank, the release states. After getting a positive identification from the fishermen, agents arrested Ditta June 5 and booked him into the Union Parish Detention Center, according to the release. Simple battery brings up to a $1,000 fine and six months in jail. Harassment of people lawfully fishing carries a $100 to $350 fine and up to 60 days in jail, the release states."

I think several things are obvious in this situation.
1 the camp owner over reacted .
2 the fisherman were possibly crowding him.
3 there are other spots fish like in that lake .
4 a fun time ruined .
In synopsis I think this about that , you want me to move away from your dock I will , even if you are not nice about it . If I owned a dock and wanted you to back off it I would hope you would treat me the same way .
It’s nice to know no one got seriously injured though and maybe a lesson was learned by both parties ?

If he would have had one of those new gas cans with the safety nozzle he would have never been able to get the gas out. Lol also where is the fine for gas in the water I'm sure it happened.

They must have been right next to the dock. No way your pouring gas on someone in a boat 10' from the dock. Sounds to me the fishermen are equally to blame.

I don't understand someones thinking that the fish at their dock on a public lake belong to them. I can understand someone
being upset over fishermen casting lead head lures or jigs and dinging up his dock and equipment. This guy could have been
a nut case or he may have just had enough. There are two sides. Canepole probably figured right though.
Tell'em I'll be there.
