No not bellybutton. I'm asking about the plug in your boat. My previous boats I've installed the plug from the inside and I currently have it in that way in my Xpress, but I like to pull the plug after each fishing trip and it's a pain in the neck (literally) to take this plug out. There isn't enough room in the bilge well for the float I looked at, so I had to wire the bilge to be on or off. I ALWAYS have some water in the boat, either from pulling back on the throttle too fast, or from some other various reason.

I've never run a plug installed from the outside. I've always liked the idea that, worse case scenario, I could pull the plug on plane and drain the boat if we got swamped. That would be a tough trick in this boat.

I have a good T handled brass plug, are the safe to run on the outside? I've been concerned that something might snag it and pull it out.

I have an outie. I’ve had both. Never really thought about it before. One thing I like about the inside one is if you forget to put it in you can from the inside. The outside one is the plus you mentioned above. The new boat I got has a plastic one that you screw in. I don’t like it because if it breaks you have to replace the whole thing.

If possible I always run my plug on the outside. Much easier to see if installed. Boat I have now has a screw in and it cannot come out. After 40 years of owning boats and fishing in all kinds of water I have never had one come out.

Guess I'm weird, always ran inside/out last 5 boats.

I run a t-handle brass plug from the outside of my Tracker 175. I was able to put it in from the outside one time when I forgot to put it in before launching. My arm was wet up to my shoulder but it was warmer then and not a problem. I have not had any other issues having the plug on the outside.
Yes, as a matter of fact, I do have a retirement plan...FISHING!

Thanks for the replies. Looks like the outside guys have spoken. I'm gonna swap mine over because I'm tired of moving my cranking battery just to reach my plug.
