I used it today and did catch one crappie on it but I am confused as to how to use it other than vertical. Thanks in advance for your help. Teach an old dog new tricks.

Three ways depending on circumstance: daubing (verticle tightlining specific cover and structure); flippin' (pitch the jig out and swim it horizontal back to you); with a bobber stop and slip float in a rodholder over submerged cover or structure.
