Default Powerdrive vs. Powerdrive V2 — Help Needed

I’ve never owned either of these two motors and am trying to decide between them. I am going to use a 12v model in whichever one I choose. I’ve been researching the differences between them and one thing I’ve noticed is the regular Powerdrive is a little cheaper than the V2. Also, it seems another difference is the V2 is capable of using the I-pilot module so it can be steered with a handheld remote control. I would really like to be able to have the remote control option. I would appreciate your opinions of both of these.

I have had both of those you speak of. I want to mention that when you add the I-Pilot to the PD-V2 that you lose the foot pedal. I now have a PD-V2 with the auto pilot and co pilot remote and like it a lot but frequently wish I had coughed the extra for the terrova with I-Pilot. To me it is second to none and worth the up front hardship to gather the extra funds and go with it. My remote battery died on the water a while back and we fished un-interrupted because I have the foot pedal. The basic power drive I had was a 40lb with no co pilot and while good enough though underpowered, I knew what I wanted when it was time for a repower. I fought with myself about the extra money and didn't spend it and have long wished that I had. Just my input.

    I have a PD70 US2 with I-pilot and Bluetooth and love it.
Down loaded the I-pilot to my cell and if the remote batteries play out
    I use my phone.

biggest difference between Power Drive V1 and Power Drive V2 is the foot pedal plug and you can up grade the V2 to I-Pilot. The V1 can be made remote control with the co-pilot add on. but it isn't as good as I-Pilot. Another thing with V2 if you add I-Pilot you lose your foot pedal. If you buy a Power Drive V2 WITH I-Pilot the foot pedal is an extra

I have the power drive 55 lb with co-pilot now, works fine but I'm thinking about getting the terruva 80 lb, with i-pilot. If I do, I may have a power drive for sale.......

Buy the unit with the IPilot installed by MK. I have the Terrova with IPilot, and no foot switch. I do not miss it, the remote around my neck, I can control from anywhere on my boat.
i have an extra battery in my tool box.

I have the 80 lb thrust I-pilot with the remote around my neck. I keep an extra battery for it in my boat just in case I need it. If you can afford it spend the extra money and get the i-pilot you want regret it plus if you ever decide to up grade to another boat or bigger tm it will be easier to sell it. IMO

I know this threads a little old but I had a question about the v1 vs. v2. I bought a v1 earlier this year and added a autopilot to it but whenever it turns (steering) it's pretty noisy and I was just wondering if the v2 was as noisy as a v1? Thanks.

I would say that the noise level is similar between the two. Had both, both given good service, and never saw a difference in the noise spooking the fish. Shallow clear water, maybe. But I have never been disappointed in either of them. Do it over again and I’ll have the I pilot. Could have used the anchor mode yesterday. I’ve had my boat ten years and the riptide sp 70 for eight. Good service from them both. Save a little longer for the ipilot, you won’t be disappointed.
