Nice pile of fish for the freezer. Thanks for posting!
Got us good it did , we all 3 laid around since last Sunday ,Monday and Tuesday being rather ugly ill . Doctors prescribed us a list of meds that cleaned out the local pharmacy . We looked at each other and the walls till we about went crazy ....or crazier anyway . The wife and I were on 5 to 7 pills a day of various meds and finally around the beginning of the weekend it went down the road . Of course unlike others who choose NOT to pass it along and we stayed in even when we could go out to make sure we did not do to others what was done to us .
My last trip last week to 2 lakes for a quick scouting was the day it hit me . So yesterday I knew I wasn't contagious anymore and had a I need to go visit lake 1 again in my john boat and make those fish pay thing in my head and off I went . Met a good bud there and before I could launch the boat he says ....Don't launch ?
I was like what ? Have you lost your mind ? He says nope , I know you don't like bass but I have managed about 30 in so many minutes standing right here on the ramp ! Lets stand here and finish them off before we launch .....I said well .......hmmmm
OK I guess we could hammer them just for giggles ....and hammer we did ! We tore them up worse than you can imagine as a rain storm went thru ,some were pretty large as well and after about 60 or 70 I said that's enough bro ....I came here to prove 2 things !
one I KNOW the crappie are spawning in this lake somewhere and two they got a rip coming from me for the no bite my jig program from last week .
Well we paddled and paddled and they were having none of it , I managed only 3 here and there and he had 1 . I said bro I bet they are across the lake back in them old beaver dens and cattails ,and over there we went late in the day . Sure enough we found them shallow in 3 foot of water back in there and went on to hammer em pretty well . Most were released and I kept me around 20 for the freezer and the bait color of choice was red pink or orange mostly and or some combo of them. feather jigs seemed to be the ticket for the crappie and the takes were slow and deliberate and as if it matters the bass wanted a bobbly garland plastic that had a dark blue sparkle back and a preal belly ....
what a mighty fine sunday afternoon outing it was with my bud

Yes, as a matter of fact, I do have a retirement plan...FISHING!
Wow! Nice crappie.
Be safe and good luck fishing
I wish Brenda and I could get well enough just to go out on our dock and sit. A fish would be a blessing though.
