    I have a 2008 merc pro xs 250 and have had 2 coil packs go bad last 2 times running boat called mercury and they recommend changing all packs can anyone tell me the reason for changing all packs at one time. also is there a way I can check to see which packs are good and bad

    When mine were sick, it was explained to me that the value of some of the components weaken as they are used and that the new one would be giving signals just different enough to confuse the computer and possibly take out the older,weaker one in the process. Prices for new ones on line are vastly different than dealer, so look before you replace them both at dealer prices.
