I retired from farming in 2000, 80-100 hour weeks. Got bored and got into selling insurance for 10 years and retired again. We bought a house and my son one and completely remodeled them both, built a 30 x62 shop and restored a '69 Bronco. I got all my projects done and got bored again. Now I have part time job that I get paid full time for. I may work 10-15 hours a week from home and work when I want to.
I am 68 now and don't figure on retiring as long as I can work and I am in good shape for my age. I have several thousand dollars of test last month to prove it....lol... Not saying that is for everybody but I have to have something to do. If I was not working, I would spend boat loads of money finding something to do.
Stay busy, as others have stated and have a great retirement.

Congrats! I am on the verge of retiring. Kinda of scary, but liberating too! A chance to do something different. But also time to spend more time doing what you like. I think the key is to remain active in some way. Hope you enjoy yours!

Congrats from so. La.. I retired from a plant in 08 and boy what a change. Lots of freedom. Stay active and stay organized.
Look forward to something. I do alot of fishing so I bought a camp on a lake in south Louisiana (lake Verret). The tv show "swamp people" shot several shows on this lake. This was a heck of a move because there is always things to do at a camp. I enjoy small projects to improve the camp plus if its a good day to be on the water; well you gotta go to know. My camp is on pilings over the water and at times I get in the boat and catch a quick supper from under the camp. Make time for this and don't feel guilty. Good luck.

Man more power to you if that is what u like to do. Man it sounds like you won't make as much money as you want. In my opinion if you burn 10 more years working; you will look back as an old man and ask yourself; do i have enough money now? The answer sadly is always no. Organizations are crying for volunteers to help. Great activities to help others.

Congrats and best wishes. I am 7 years this month. Time goes by so fast. First couple was ultra busy. Then I became more selective and did less of some things that I was gung ho on before. I find each year my priorities change as to what seems important. Moving and building a house last year kept me busy. You may find your interests change also. I no longer feel like traveling to the 4 corners pulling my 5th wheel. Shorter trips are much easier and so many places to see within a few hundred miles. I finally admit to myself, that fishing is not as important as it was. I went hunting recently and had forgot how much I missed it. That will be something I look forward to next season.
The last year I have become more into helping out people in the neighborhood. I find that rewarding and hope to continue. I know this is rambling, but my point is let your life evolve and try things for happiness. Hope you have many years with the kids and spend all the time you can with your wife and Dad.

Still had trouble with the I need to go to work syndrome so I work, but only part time driving cars for an auto group here.
Sometimes I feel like it's a curse, but other times, especially in the winter it's a blessing because it gets me out of the house.
I'm 71 and thought I could go fishing every day. Wrong!!! My wife says I have to work part-time to pay for my gas money and fishing gear. Fortunately, I have a job as counter entertainment specialist at Braums.
