I'm in the process of researching the best crappie fishing boat for my needs and the Excell Bay boat is at the top of my list. I know this post is over 3 years old but I like to go back and research all post relating to The boats that made my list. Thanks for this information and the review on Bill Burnett at Big River Marine in West Memphis,AR. It will be around a 4 hour drive, one way for me but customer service is a huge selling point for the dealer I choose. I'm really liking what research is turning up concerning Excel Boats.

I learned through vast research that if you are not happy with the dealer there will be no way you will be happy with what you bought.

Boat looks cool and I am sure you can rig it anyway you want and fish it anywhere you want and have room for some sandwiches and such, too. Nice boat.....

I am rigging mine now and would like to see how you will do yours.
Maybe they will bite this one……

Unfortunately,in the business world things change. To my knowledge Bill Burnett is no longer associated with Excel Boats. I was asked to get involved in the situation and gave Excel every reason to NOT make the decision they did.

The Bay Pros and Storm Cats are now built in Union City ,Tn and are .160 gauge aluminum. I would max out the horsepower rating and the boats perform better with jack plates. I’ve spent untold hours in both my 203s, my BayPro 230 consignment rig,and now my Storm Cat 230. I’ve seen new features built into each new model that make them safer, more comfortable, and easier to fish out of.

I love the bay boat style BUT after spending up to 8 hours per day standing at the console on bad knees, bad back, and bad hip (all have been surgically fixed) , I decided to go to the Storm Cat 230 where I could spend time sitting down. It is a top-of-the-line catfish tourney boat. I had some features I wanted in a guide boat that weren’t available on the Storm Cat so once my deal was negotiated and the boat delivered and I wrote a painful check for it, Rickie and I lit in and started modifying the boat to my needs.

Kent, the plant manager at Union City, has been kept abreast of every change and I’m sure some day Excel will go after the multi-species market with some of my modifications. I have found Excel to be a great company to deal with.

If anybody wants info on the Bay Pros or Storm Cat, check out your local Excel dealer. They will be your source of pricing and options. If you want to talk fishing out of them, give me a call.
