Default Tactics for fall crappie, trolling, timber, or lights at night ?

We fish a lot Feb-Apr trolling and at night in the summer but never in the fall usually to busy getting ready to hunt or hunting. For you guys that fish this time of year what is the most productive method, I have heard that night time is really good in the fall but never tried it. I am going this weekend and looking for some pointers.

During the fall bite crappie will be gorging there self on shad, minnows, etc. for the winter. I spider rig with minnows in the fall with pretty good results. Sonar is one of my biggest helps as the crappie are often schooled up are after the schools of shad. I fish morning and sometimes early evening in the fall but have never tried it at night in the fall. Let me also add when you find them a lot of the time feeding in the fall they will bite just as good as the spring bite and sometimes even better. The skiers and jet skies are off the water and a lot of the time I have had the whole lake to myself.
Be safe and good luck fishing
