according to what I read about this subject after a certain point in your life the damage is done and its to late to worry about it if you didn't take precautions , somewhere around 30 to 40 years old I think I remember reading .
Thanks for being open and sharing for others to take heed. I see a dermatologist once a year for a suspicious spots. I too did not use much sunscreen when younger. I do now. This morning I used my 50 spf generously.

For most people, most of the sun damage occurs by the time you graduate from high school. (That's because of summer break when kids are outside in the sun.)
However, fishermen are not most people. We spend a lot of time on the water, and sunlight reflecting off the water makes it even worse. It's never too late to cover up.

Finally started listening to my dermatologist and now wear long sleeve shirts and brimmed hat. Use my sunscreen. I don't seem to get any hotter with long sleeves. Get checked at least once a year.
