I tell you Mr. Mrdux. It happened to me Lil while back and I made up my mind then that next time I am going to make sure they don't do it again. At least in that boat. I was in a ditch not very wide with 7 other boats. All boats were fishing because of wind in open water. This guy comes down that sucker skent back. 200 horses screaming. Came by me and I could of stepped in his boat from mine. It's happened to me day after day on ky Lake. People that do that have no respect for anyone or the safety for anyone. All I can say is from now on if I can see we're they go or catch them at landing I will get my point across. If they don't care about me enough to slow down for 2 minutes then I don't mind doing what I need to to get a point across. The guy that flipped you off would have bad day next time we crossed paths. I'm telling you I've had all I'm going to take off it because it's no sense in it. There's kids, women, our clients and a lot of them can't swim. I've had some clients that got scared to death when they came by 70 mph within 10 ft of my boat. As long as I got clients I'm just going to remember the boat and try get the #. If no clients well what happens has to happen.

Not everyone that owns a glitter boat a idiot. Ive had just as many rude people in smaller boats fishing for cats crappie etc when I been out fishing so it does work both ways. As for pulling a gun well you better be prepared for the other party doing the same and they may not hesitate and open fire feeling they are in danger because you pulled a gun to threaten them with it.
Yes there was once a time when people on the water were decent respectful and helpful. Not anymore due to the poor raising a lot of them get and the me me me attitude.

That's a lot of what's wrong with the world is poor raising. If I was to pull a gun I would definitely use it. I don't carry one for that reason right there.

Don't know what it is with people, they think they are untouchable while cruising along in a boat or a car. Beleive me you are very much touchable, your not riding in an invisible force field. People shooting other drivers every other week in Memphis over road rage it seems. Pulling a gun on someone for a traffic or boating infraction is a very dumb idea, and I would tell someone that client or not. Unfortunately, it a sign of the times no one has any consideration for others anymore. Someone spoke of children, the poor children, yeah the children were laughing it up when there mom and dad about capsized my boat last weekend. Mankind is de evovling at an alarming rate folks, it's all about ME nowadays!!

I'm not one to go out of my way looking for trouble on the water, nor do I mind people fishing close to me. Last weekend I was catfishing and had to ask a guy to move his boat bc he rolled in and shut his motor down and sat right on top of where I had my rods cast, which was about 20 yds from my boat. In your case, a camera may help, if you don't wanna be to "un-professional" in front of clients. It is a bit frustrating because it's disrespectful, but it's also a safety concern! 1-2oz weights on some 6lb test and a decent rod and reel may teach boaters like you've had to deal with a lesson. Or a slingshot with some steel bearings. As an avid fisherman and guide I know you have a paddle in your boat in case your motor fails. Just remember that paddles are good for deterring others from coming aboard your vessel after 2oz of weight was flung at them lol

jet fleas , wake up boats , fast bass catterz , sea worthy cabin cruisers , even regular ole fishing boats this time of year ......I don't know a great way to deal with them short of it getting ugly myself . I suppose if you contact the local game warden he might be of help and or lake patrol if you have them . I see some type of this stuff every time I go in the summer months myself . I just try my best to keep my distance from them and ride out the wakes while saying ugly things under my breath ....and I don't know if it helps much but at least I don't get caught up in the dilemma of should I hurt someone over it .......

Now that I am a Senior and take my grand kids fishing with me a lot, I have calmed down. Uses to be casting a heavy salmon treble at them would slow them down but now they go so fast. Always like when DEC is out and keeping an eye on things. Agree with the ALL ABOUT ME theory. on the water, in the car whatever.

Thanks for the input. BTW, I've owned several "glitter boats" in my days. "Glitter boat" is much more an attitude that a static item. I have tons of friends who run them and they don't fall into the category of the idiots I was talking about in my post. Same goes for most here.

I've never had reason to take my handgun out of its holster, on land or water. It is not there for a snap judgement call, it is there to make sure I can protect those in my boat or home in case I had to.

When I fished bass tournaments in a past life, we use to laugh about one "perch jerker" taking longer to launch a boat than it took our 25 boat bass club to launch, blast off and be gone. In many cases that held true. That never made that "perch jerker" any less deserving of respect on the water. More than once I called down bass friends who I saw acting irresponsibly or disrespectfully toward other boaters.

I just think as a society, we have lost sight of other folks feelings and are quick to think our time is much more important than another person's time.

KY and Barkley Lakes make up 180,000 acres of water. When a person is fishing, they probably occupy 1/100th of an acre. I just find it impossible to find a reason another person should feel they have to violate that small space that the other fisherman or boater is using at the time.

Pappy, that article you linked to should be an eye opener to any boater. Maybe it is time folks start holding others responsible for their actions. It's going to take more than getting POed or flipping another boater a rude hand gesture. Identifying the bad apple and being willing to go to the trouble to get law enforcement involved has to be the best solution.

I've often thought about getting a paint ball gun and giving that 80k Ranger a new paint job!!
